Italferr to be considered an example to follow in a suffering  country. The Italian StateRailways Group engineering firm is able to participate to international tenders for the construction of high technologal civil works  in the world, ensuring competence, experience and professionalism.A further confirm of such good business arrives in the last days, when Italferr has been awarded the ‘consultancy services for preliminary design’ contract for Oman’s national railway project.

Italferr won the project in competition from DB International GmbH, a German engineering and consultancy firm, and National Engineering Office, an independent Omani firm. The Italian company had submitted the lowest bid of RO12.35mn on the contract. The selected consultant will be responsible for provisional design of the complete infrastructure and systems covering all segments of the 1,061km railway project.

Italferr is already developing in Qatar the design for the Doha Metro after a year and a half of preliminary activities and it was recently selected by the Saudi Railway Co for the preliminary and detailed design of the new 960km railway line to link Riyadh with Jeddah, valued at €28mn.

Under the agreements, Omani engineers will be trained to in Rome next month for them to qualify and become “the nucleus of Oman Railway Company”. Oman, which exports modest amounts of oil and will face challenges in financing its state budget and generating employment for its citizens in coming years.
